Shotcrete is a simple and effective method of rendering a high-quality finish in both commercial and residential projects. To put it simply, shotcrete or “mock rock” walls are made by spraying and pneumatically projecting concrete onto a surface at high velocities.
Shotcrete can be sprayed onto any surface including vertical and overhead areas. Over the years, it has become an important construction tool in civil construction, mining and excavation projects.
We have used shotcrete in Sydney on a number of occasions. For example, we worked closely with the designers and structural engineers of a residential block in Southern Sydney. An underlying water pipe had burst and over time, mass saturation caused the structural integrity of the connected house to fail. The crib wall gradually began to fail and moved towards the home.
Crib wall remediation works were carried out around and inside the existing house using piles, micro piles and difficult access drilling techniques to install cable anchors.
The final stage of the project was the construction of a 250mm concrete wall.
The project was successful and we were able to eliminate the risk of further damage.
